Organisational Member: Multicultural Youth Affairs Network NSW
Two year term
Which district do you work in?
Western Sydney
Why do you want to join the Youth Action Board?
I want to join the Youth Action Board to contribute to the organisation that kick-started my youth work career and which provides strong leadership and support for our sector and the young people we work with. Our youth sector deserves a strong advocate; an innovator of professional development to grow our ability to be responsive and inclusive; and a leader in youth participation, providing opportunities for young people to be actively involved in shaping our sector. I want to further strengthen our Peak Body, and contribute to a culture of diversity and inclusion.
What skills and experience would you bring to the Youth Action Board?
I am a strong advocate for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, and believe our Peak Body has an important role to play in supporting youth services to meet the needs of this diverse and growing group and help them settle well in NSW.
I am Executive Officer of the Multicultural Youth Affairs Network – the only state-wide multicultural youth specialist organisation in NSW. I hold a Bachelor of Education and have over 10 years’ experience working with young people – as a high school teacher and youth worker, in health promotion in Uganda and East Africa, and in youth development.
