Why do you want to join the Youth Action Board of Governance?
I am keen to continue on as a board member for Youth Action after serving the organisation for many years. Issues I am passionate about include:
- Regional youth issues (and the significant disparity when it comes to opportunity between regional and metro)
- Arts and cultural activities for young people
- Genuine youth participation
- Positive youth development
What skills and experiences would you bring to the Youth Action Board?
I bring a truckload of passion and experience that has been developed over the 25 years I have worked with young people in a wide range of settings. For many years I have chaired RYDON (the Regional Youth Development Officers Network) in the Hunter Region. RYDON is comprised of youth development officers from across the Hunter Region and we provide support, training and advocacy to our youth sector and have done so for the past 27 years. In this role as well as the Hunter Region district representative for Youth Action, I am well versed in issues that effect young people and the youth sector. I have served on the Youth Action board for many years and would love to continue on.
