Outburst! Western Sydney Youth Action Group takes action on issues that affect young people in Greater Western Sydney. It’s a group of passionate young people active in their local communities and committed to making Western Sydney a better place for young people.
Membership is for young people aged 12 to 25 years who live, work, or study in the Greater Western Sydney local government areas of Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Camden, Campbelltown, Canterbury-Bankstown, Cumberland, Fairfield, Hawkesbury, The Hills, Liverpool, Parramatta and Penrith.
Outburst! meets monthly in Parramatta and is a great opportunity to meet like-minded people, learn new skills, and add something different to your resume.
Some of Outburst!'s recent achievements include:
- Setting up ‘Out West’ the first LGBTQIA+ support group for young people in Western Sydney, which meets regularly in Parramatta with Twenty10
- Bringing together hundreds of young people from across Greater Western Sydney for the biennial What’s Up West? Youth Conferences
- Winning a $10,000 grant to develop and run ‘Friend2Friend’ an innovative youth-led mental health peer-to-peer initiative better equip young people with the knowledge, skills, resources, and confidence to support their friends with mental health concerns. Friend2Friend won the 2017 ZEST Award for 'Outstanding Youth Led Project'.
We take on new members in May and November each year.
