A recent survey of ASX300 companies found the average age of Board members to be 60+.
Whilst older Directors hold valuable experience, it's crucial that Boards reflect the makeup of their stakeholders.
Youth Action will be hosting an online information session on Tuesday October 5, 5:30 - 6:30pm for young people interested in learning more about corporate/organisational governance.
We will be joined by Merryl Mathews, Board and Governance Partner at the Australian Institute of Company Directors, representatives from Echo, a youth-led organisation organisation promoting economic and financial literacy and Youth Action Board member Lisa Lewis.
The session will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of Directors, promote opportunities to develop governance skills and Lisa will share her experiences as a young person on the Youth Action Board. We will also provide guidance for those looking to nominate for a Board position. The session is open to young people aged 12-24 and youth workers.
